Dear Gianni,

the Avisoft-SASLab Pro software offers a few options for accelerating the
handling of large files. One of these options will disable the Undo command=
.
This means that all editing commands will be executed directly on the origi=
nal
soundfile without creating a temporary fall-back copy. Another option
activates a 'non-perfect' waveform display (the software does not read the =
entire
file for displaying the waveform representation - it just takes a few short=
er
samples according to the current zoom scale). The combination of these two
options will let you open large files more quickly. Unfortunately, this kin=
d of
optimization is also accompanied by a higher risk to overlook some relevant
sections between the displayed samples (unless you zoom into the initially
hidden sections).

I guess that you often need to extract short interesting sections out of
your large files. This operation can be done efficiently by using the SaveA=
s...
command on selected portions of the file. In that case, there will be no
intermediate scratch operations involved. The computer only needs to copy t=
he
selection into a new, smaller file. However, other editing commands like Cu=
t or
Trim would still require some additional file copy operations that might
slow-down the editing process.

Regards,
Raimund
