Saw this at minidisc.org, but the relevant links to Sony's PR are down: New Hi-MD format, 1GB capacity MD recorders and media. Minidisc.org has some snapshots of the relevant new decks -- all consumer portables -- and media, which looks like current disks. Speculation is rampant on backwards compatibility. I have my fingers crossed that this will allow uncompressed recording...
