I saw this too (the link to Sony doesn't work, the units can be seen on 
www.minidisc.org), it'll be even more interesting if you can use this 
like an MP3 device (via USB) to drag and drop files (better yet, if you 
can upgrade current player/recorders to use the new 1Gb discs). Given 
these are about 7 times the capacity of current minidiscs, the 8 hours 
playing time mentioned suggests ATRAC compression will still be used.
