Phantom power, nominally 48 Volts, is used by professional condensor microphones. It only works on balanced (3-wire) circuits. Plug-in power works with inexpensive condensor microphones, wired unbalanced. High-end consumer cassette recorders and all MD recorders with mike inputs supply plug-in power, typically a few volts, always on unbalanced circuits. -Dan Dugan ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ |
