Thanks for the group members for advices. I have tried sunlight
exposure to mike but did not get any improvement. The gain is so
low that even on setting Sony DAT-D100 at maximum recording level,
it can record only when one speaks loudly close to it.I live in
India and there is no service centre for Sennheiser mikes here.

John, can I get the specification of booster and approximate
price?
