Pretty exciting... Some of us have been waiting for something like
this. Let's hope it lives up to its promise!

>The upshot:
>
>Core Sound is promising a "high resolution portable digital audio
>recorder" available towards the end of the first quarter, ie, before
>April. After a few days delay they posted their promised update with
>more info.
>
>Single or dual channel, record on solid-state memory, removable harddisk
>(miniature presumably), or high capacit 2.5" drives. And via
>wired/wireless networks.
>
>It will accept SPDIF/optical digital input; and "a portable 24bit/96K dual
>mic preamp/D-to-A convertor will be available."
>
>Retail < $1000, plus "depending on what you already own, less than $500."
>
>Skeptical about their rechargeable battery consumption ("enough to record
>a concert" is not very much!) but very, very curious...
>
>Sounds not unlike a souped-up Nomad 3 redesigned specifically with the
>field recordist in mind!
