For anyone who hasn't been following this...

The upshot:
Core Sound is promising a "high resolution portable digital audio
recorder" available towards the end of the first quarter, ie, before
April. After a few days delay they posted their promised update with
more info.
Single or dual channel, record on solid-state memory, removable harddisk
(miniature presumably), or high capacit 2.5" drives. And via
wired/wireless networks.
It will accept SPDIF/optical digital input; and "a portable 24bit/96K dual
mic preamp/D-to-A convertor will be available."
Retail < $1000, plus "depending on what you already own, less than $500."
Skeptical about their rechargeable battery consumption ("enough to record
a concert" is not very much!) but very, very curious...
Sounds not unlike a souped-up Nomad 3 redesigned specifically with the
field recordist in mind!
