John, - I did not replace it with a EM23 but a EM68, just like the PRO2
original.

What is the input impedance of your AIWA MD?

Even with a high impedance input, like 10 kOhms, you would likelly get a
lower gain with the old EM68 than with a ME67. I guess about 6 db.
The signal to noise ratio would be about 3 db better with the ME67, without
parabol, of course.

The PRO2 and PRO4 series are mainly designed to be light-weight and easy to
use.
