I like the MP2 a lot; the AD-20 is so stripped-down it has nothing adjustable except the two channel gains, and those are on two little tweaker pots. You understand that the AD-20 has no phantom power and no analog output; only S/PDIF or optical digital output. Quality-wise I think they both have good preamps; the MP-2 has input transformers, so I'd expect a couple of dB better S/N; they spec at 1 dB different, but it's tricky to measure.
