Walt, you wrote, >I have sony sports walkman cassette recorders that are very waterproof. >The same can be done with minidisc as well. Sony has brought out a >highly water resistant minidisc recorder... When I visited Tiritiri Matangi Island in New Zealand, it started to pour as soon as I got out on the trail. Since it was my last day in NZ, I figured what the hell, I'd record till my gear quit. I held my stereo mike (Fred Trumbull's Sony ECM-737) under the bill of my baseball cap to keep the rain off, breathing -very- quietly. I got some good stuff, rain forest birds with roaring wind and rain storm background. Eventually, the Sharp MD locked up. I dried it out with a hot air hand dryer at the airport, but it didn't work again till I got home and cleaned out the membrane switches. All my tracks were fine. -Dan Dugan ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ |
