Three species already on nests in my local area: Red Wattlebird, Magpie  (both in Fraser) and Noisy Miner (Hall) .

A few days ago I was jogging around Hughes Oval and saw a Magpie wrestling with a wire coat hanger (the sort that’s quite thick wire covered in white plastic). Going back a few minutes later to retrieve the hanger and put it in the bin it was nowhere to be found. So somewhere round the Oval a Magpie nest has a very secure base!

A pair of magpies have started bringing sticks to a eucalypt a few trees from the choughs’ nest in Anzac Park East, Campbell.  A flock of 27 Crested Pigeons in the same area had two copulating two days ago as well.

Today at Jerra Wetlands White-plumed Honeyeaters were copulating. Last weekend at Mount Majura Nature Reserve Buff-rumped Thornbills were carrying nesting material.
