Hi Julian,
I'd be pretty sure this is the same thing as on the
"Life of birds" series on DVD & CD. In which case it is of a well known
captive bird at filmed at Healesville sanctuary. So sadly it was not of
Attenborough "stumbling miraculously on a Lyre Bird" as much as a well arranged
film of a known performer in a well camouflaged (large) cage. This is the reason
for the mimicry of mechanical sounds like cameras etc. Those that have studied
the birds reveal that wild lyrebirds never do this. This issue and the origin of
this film have been discussed at length over the years on birding-aus, so if you
