While on the SLB topic: I've been puzzling about a particular behaviour
of Lyrebirds for a while. We're custodians of some land between Bemboka and Candelo
in the Bega Valley, backing onto the South East Forest National Park.
The land is similar to the lower slopes of Brown Mountain, with small
swift streams and rainforest remnant gullies.
It's festooned with lyrebirds, all keenly calling - not imitating
cameras yet.

My question is about their nocturnal habits. I've never been able to find a book that mentions this but the birds call throughout the night. Has anyone heard or read about this odd habit? I've been hearing this for over 20 years so it's not a recent phenomenon.
