Some months ago before this atrocity was first noised about the water-skiers had an exhibition day on Central Basin. Since the resulting row interfered with my enjoyment of a talk about John Gould in the National Library I contacted various politicians about who was responsible for what in authorising such events.

While the NCA is responsible for permitting or prohibiting activities on the Lake such activities have to comply with Territory environmental laws. So, if the local politicians and/or bureaucrats wanted to exercise some control over the event they could. My guess is that they will do nothing as usual.

In the electronic version of the C Times the entry in 'Have your say' responding to the coverage of this story is quite amusing.
