Basically there are two main software systems used on mobile phones and
tablets - Apple and Android (which is from Google). (There is also a
Windows system but that is not very popular, and older phones have
different systems). Apple gets all the publicity but Android actually sells
more.
Software written for one (eg Apple) will not run on the other or on a
Windows PC and vice versa. Which is a pain for software developers but that
is life. Hence the need for different versions.....
