Sun 8 Sep Australian Painted Snipe Griffin
Female again in same spot on swamp down Wagner Road this pm. First time seen since last weekend despite a few visits in meantime. Also Common Sandpiper on creek outflow just before Osprey House coming into Dohles Rocks (thanks Gav) and a (surely escaped) Red-winged Parrot over wetland opposite Osprey House.

A nice walk yielded 60 species yesterday!

Sat 7 Sep Cape Barren Goose (probable escape ?) Lake Gallettly, UQ Gatton campus
Single bird observed on point in south east corner roosting with large numbers of Magpie Geese and other species. This bird was first reported in April. (Eds. R.Morris - note this long staying out of range bird is considered by most to almost certainly be a bird which has escaped from captivity. Do not atlas).

Fri 6 Sep Marbled Frogmouth, Sooty Owl, Masked Owl Mt Glorious/Mt Nebo
Spent a few hours owling on Friday night through D'Aguilar NP. Marbled Frogmouths were very vocal with about 5 pairs between Tennison Woods and Mt Glorious. One Sooty Owl was heard near Tennison Woods and a distant Masked Owl was heard between Mt Glorious and Camp Mountain (near the winery).

Red-necked Avocet Dohles Rocks
590 birds off Dohles Rocks this evening on Pine River. Very high count for site. Peak count in last few months had been approx 150. Also approx 80 Red Knot amongst the Great Knot and Native-hen still opposite Osprey House.

Spotted Harrier Rush Creek Rd past SEQWater gate.
The Spotted Harrier suddenly swooped in low and flew around close by and perched in a nearby tree. It's startled prey having made a quick exit.

Partly overcast with a couple of light showers early. Monthly mid-week walk with 11 members and visitors. Baillon's Crake (1) On water area near viewing platform

Mon 2 Sep 18 Whistling Kite, 4 Black Kite, Swamp Harrier, Brown Goshawk Deagon Wetland & Third Lagoon Reserve
Big numbers of nesting Ibis (mostly White 460+) have attracted the attentions of the raptors. 18 Whistling Kites present this morning, at least 6 in the air at any one time with 12 or so spread across the trees surrounding the lagoon, mostly to the left of the platform plus straight across. Also 4 Black Kites put in a brief appearance with low level passes in front of the platform along with a Swamp Harrier and Brown Goshawk.

Australian Painted Snipe Near Tamrookum school
Four males were easily seen from the Mt Lindsay Highway about 40m from the fence near a culvert just north of Tamrookum Primary School.

First reported by Gavin Goodyear. Now has Spotted Crake (2) Black-tailed Native-hen (4) Good view with the scope. All out of camera range.

Baillions and Spotless Crakes Sandy Camp Road Wetlands Reserve
Good numbers of Crakes around this morning, 3 Spotless and a Baillons on the pool behind the viewing area, a further 5 Baillons Crakes seen either side of the main path.

Birds resting in short swamp vegetation close to the highway fence beside the primary school. Many other waterbirds also present.

Mon 26 Aug Gibberbird Road out to Dig Tree near Innaminka
We encountered 1 Gibberbird just over the border in QLD on the way out to the famous Dig Tree from Innaminka, also 2 Bourkes Parrots at the tree.
