Published sightings for the week ending 8 Sep 2013.

Sat 7 Sep Black Kite, White-bellied Sea-Eagle Shepherds Lookout
Black Kite (1) Uniform dark brown, long forked tail, gliding effortlessly on long flat wings. Flew in from the east and departed northwards. White-bellied Sea-Eagle (1) One adult flew north along the Murrumbidgee, circled over the lookout and returned south.

Wed 4 Sep Western Gerygone Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve, Gungahlin
Several Western Gerygones seen today and more heard at Mulligan's Flat. It seems that they have returned in force. Other spring arrivals included Olive-backed Orioles, Rufous Whistlers and many Noisy Friarbirds.

Black-winged Stilt (5) on the Lake Burley Griffin foreshore at Acton, 1620 this afternoon. Thanks to David Rosalky for reporting.

Calm, warm spring conditions Pied Cormorant (1) Long bill and bright yellow facial skin in front of eye.

Mon 2 Sep White bellied Cuckoo-shrike Lake Ginninderra
WBCS (black headed form) seen resting low down in a casuarina on the western lake shore. Nearby were a group of about 5 Dusky Woodswallows. 2 Double-barred Finches and 5 Brown Quail were near the bird observation jetty on the northern lake shore foraging at the edge of the running track.
