Sun 1 Sep Baillions and Spotless Crakes Sandy Camp Road Wetlands Reserve
Good numbers of Crakes around this morning, 3 Spotless and a Baillons on the pool behind the viewing area, a further 5 Baillons Crakes seen either side of the main path.

Female on paperbark swamp down Wagner Road. Lhs of road by new housing development. Resting under paperbarks at back of swamp. View only from road. Private land and housing development underway. Be careful not to park in access to new development by fence over road. Also Brolga and White-necked Heron.

1 adult bird flying above lake for 5 minutes at 1210, eventually flew high north

1 Spotless Crake, 1 Latham's Snipe and 1 Glossy Ibis all in front of the main hide this morning plus the 3 usual Pygmy-Geese. This is my first Latham's of the season here.

Fri 30 Aug Painted Snipe 3 males, Latham's Snipe 4. Mount Lindsay Highway, Tamrook Farm Dam behind Tamrookam Primary School
Birds resting in short swamp vegetation close to the highway fence beside the primary school. Many other waterbirds also present.

First bird I've heard this season, along the creek opposite the play equipment.

Latham's Snipe, Yellow-billed Spoonbill, Marsh Sandpiper, Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, Red-necked Avocet Kedron Wetlands
Nothing especially exciting, but late afternoon at Kedron Wetlands produced a nice selection of waterbirds on the main pond. There were singles of Latham's Snipe and Yellow-billed Spoonbill, about 20 avocets plus the Marsh and Sharp-tailed Sandpipers that have been present for a couple of weeks now. Still large numbers of Red-kneed Dotterel. Very good conditions in the late afternoon sun.

Near junction of Northbrook Creek and Billies Bay (Lake Wivenhoe). Unusually open habitat: seen at about 2 pm, hunting from exposed perch above bare, tall shrubs along road across grassy/weedy paddock. Rough photo through car's front window.

Australian Spotted Crake, Black Falcon Kedron Brook Wetlands
One at muddy edge of shallow saline pools that were fringed with dense marine couch grass and tall as well as short sedge; airport side of the main saltmarsh. A possible second bird was glimpsed at a nearby pool beside reedbed. Black Falcon spiralling above ducks and stilts in the broad tidal pond.

Sun 18 Aug Terek Sandpiper Kakadu Beach, Bribie Island
Four birds were seen in a mixed flock with Grey-tailed Tattlers, many of which were in breeding plumage, Bar-tailed Godwits, Whimbrels, Eastern Godwits and a Common Greenshank, also in breeding plumage.
