The following is a digest of Sightings Reported on Birdpedia for the period
Monday, July 22, 2013 to Sunday, July 28, 2013:

Area: SA

Date: Thursday, June 6, 2013

Location: Parnka Point, Coorong

Pied Oystercatcher (Haematopus longirostris) (2) One of the Pied Oystercatchers
seen had 5N on a yellow flag on the right tibia. Subsequently I contacted David
& Sue Trudgeon in the SE who gave me the information on its history. It was
flagged on 12/07/2006 as a 2 year old near Foster Corner Inlet, east of
Melbourne. It was reported a year later from a nearby site, then on 11/12/2012
it was seen at Parnka Point, on 16/12/2012 at Ocean Beach near Magrath Flat in
the Coorong, before my sighting again at Parnka Point on 6/06/2013.The distance
from Foster to Parnka Point is approx. 700 kms as the crow flies, but assuming
that it would have followed the coastline, the distance travelled would be
about 1000 kms. The Trudgeons monitor Oystercatchers, & would be pleased to
hear from anyone about any flagged birds.
