on Denver Road Hindmarsh Island.
Elegant Parrot (Neophema elegans) (24) Feeding on the samphire around ponds in

Date: Tuesday, July 16, 2013
Location: Port Willunga.
Spotted Harrier (Circus assimilis) (1) An immature bird flying towards the
south along the cliff face dropped onto the top of a bush where it seemed to
have seen potential prey but continued on its way after a few minutes.
Reported by: Jeffrey Crocker on Tuesday, July 16, 2013
---------------------------------------------
Date: Wednesday, July 17, 2013
Location: Wright Island, Encounter Bay, Victor Harbor.
Spotted Harrier (Circus assimilis) (1) A probable adult repeatedly harrying the
flocks of Rock Doves which take refuge and roost on this island but no outcome
was seen before I lost sight of the bird. Spotted Harriers seem to have been
unusually abundant around The Fleurieu this autumn and winter.
Wright Island is a frequent hunting ground for the local Peregrines and Sea
Eagles but also acts like a magnet in attracting many passing birds of prey
drawn to it by the large flocks of roosting Rock Doves, Starlings and Silver
Gulls. It's always worth a scan with the telescope!
