Slaty-backed Thornbill, Redthroat
Cassia Hill Walk, Simpsons Gap
Slaty-backed Thornbill seen where the walking track crosses the bike path. A pair of Redthroats nearby were quite vocal, imitating various other bird calls including Willie Wagtail and Zebra Finch. Inland and Chestnut-rumped Thornbills also present.

Freckled Duck (1)
Afternoon trip to find freckled duck with Roy Woodward. Some rain about on a hot and steamy afternoon, freckled duck still present on same track as seen previously.

White-faced Heron
Ayers Rock/Uluru
Went spotlighting around the Kantju Gorge walk after sunset, and found a single White-faced Heron flying high over the area. Only other animals sighted or heard were many microbats

East Point (Darwin)
Moderator Note: Interesting with presence of breeding plumage eclipse. Interested if this has been observed by others?
Located on rocky headland near war museum
Pacific Golden-Plover (7) 2 in moulting stage, i.e. starting to show breeding plumage. Advised that due to lateness, these birds will probably stay for the winter and are usually juveniles?

Afternoon visit with fellow birders; Peter Eve and Gus Daly.
Freckled Duck (1) Found by Gus Daly, who reported its presence a couple of days ago. 1 lone bird 2nd pond North East pond with Pink-eared Ducks and Grey Teals
