White Wagtail M.alba leucopsis
McIvor River crossing at 15°07'23'S 145°04'17'E
This rare vagrant on the causeway at McIvor River crossing, actively feeding on the causeway and edge of nearby pools. Observed for well over an hour, and still present after 3 hours.
Appears to be adult female subspecies leucopsis, as back/mantle colour is mix of grey and black, sharp contrast between black nape and grey of upper back. Pure white flanks, white on front of head and first part of crown. Large breast patch so apparently in breeding plumage.

Square-tailed Kite
Jourama Falls
Square-tailed Kite spotted circling over trees just west of Jourama camping area late this morning. Bird lost from view as it dropped to tree height well across the creek. My first sighting of the species anywhere near the falls or even Ingham.
