Bob,
According to the Brisbane Statistical Division used by the Australian Bureau of
Statistics, the Brisbane metropolitan area includes the Local Government Area's
of City of Brisbane, City of Ipswich, Logan City, Moreton Bay Region (in which
Murrumba Downs is found) and Redland City.
Or perhaps the Queensland Government should revise their Brisbane Suburbs map
which should clearly in the north Murrumba Downs. (see:
http://www.derm.qld.gov.au/property/mapping/pdf/bris_a4_map_free.pdf )
So I suppose it depends on whose interpretation you use Bob.
Besides, I'm sure it was an innocent mistake for which the person is deeply
regretful for making.
Cheers

Subject: [Birding-Aus] Re report of Glossy Ibis on Eremaea 's Central &
Southern Queensland page.
I don’t really enjoy becoming upset over things like this but the 24th Oct
report of a Glossy Ibis at Murrumba Downs on the Central & Southern Queensland
page claims that “Murrumba Downs is a suburb of Brisbane”.
Murrumba Downs is not a suburb of Brisbane!
It is a suburb of what used to be Pine Rivers but is now the Moreton Bay
Region. It has never, during the current and previous centuries, at least, been
a suburb of Brisbane.
I will concede that, depending on where in Brisbane you like to start from and
which route you take, Murrumba Downs is probably 25 km north from Brisbane.
Please, people, can we be a little more thoughtful when we are pin-pointing a
location for a sighting?
