Red-necked Avocet (Recurvirostra novaehollandiae) (1) 50, roosting on bank with
grey teal and 2 black-winged stilts
Wetland on Southern side of Randell Road, 200m before the turn right to the
Murray Mouth

Date: Friday, September 21, 2012
Location: Small roadside lake on the edge of the Onkaparinga River, just east
of the new railway bridgen on River Rd.
Blue-billed Duck (Oxyura australis) (2) This one or a pair have been seen
around southern Adelaide for a couple of years now, not sure if they are
actually breeding locally, but going through the courtship display motions. Of
some concern what impact the new rail bridge may be for them, and others as the
huge bridge effectively divides the Lower Onkaparinga Estuary Reserve.

Male and female Blue-billed Ducks undertaking their special courtship display,
quite special to observe and photograph, lots of picture taken.
