Sat 17 Sep White-fronted Chat Mount Stromlo Forest Park
At least nine White-fronted Chats between the 'grand' stand and the holding dam to the East. Could have been more as there were single birds and pairs flying around. At one time I saw a flock of six followed by another three that included these two.
Michael Kingsford

Thu 15 Sep White-throated Gerygone Callum Brae
Around 10.30am near one of the dams in the northern part of the reserve.

Wed 14 Sep Barn Owl YARRALUMLA cnr Schilch and MacDonnell St 0900
Noticed a bird being chased relentlessly by group of other birds incl peewee and magpies. Eventually it just stood motionless on side of the road while being dive bombed pecked etc. Tried with v limited success to fend off the attacks but couldn't go too close because I had a dog on a leash. Arranged for driver to park in a position which gave it some protection from attack. After a short while it flew off at fairly low height and attack resumed. It landed on low and rather exposed bough of a tree and withstood further attack. 30 mins later my daughter and passer by collected it from on the ground nearby where it was still suffering further attack. Taken to vet in Manuka where injuries( incl broken wing) attended to. Suspected brain damage under observation. Collected by RSPCA cob.

Sun 11 Sep Shining Bronze-Cuckoo Callum Brae Nature Reserve
Shining Bronze-Cuckoo feeding voraciously on small caterpillars on infested eucalypt. I think the second sighting in Canberra this season (earlier was Milburn Black Mtn 2 off on 28 August 2011 reported on COG chatline)

Two seen for the second time in a couple of weeks.
