Published sightings for the week ending 31 Jul 2011.

Sun 31 Jul Tree Martin, Southern Whiteface Kama Nature Reserve
About 10 Tree Martins flying around the reserve (?returned migrants). 2 Southern Whiteface was the other highlight of a fairly quiet morning at Kama. Mild with light rain.

Sat 30 Jul Australian Hobby, Brown Quail Fyshwick Sewage Treatment Plant
Australian Hobby (1) hunting low and fast over the paddocks at dusk. 4 Brown Quail were the other highlight.

Brown Quail, Southern Whiteface Callum Brae Nature Reserve
Brown Quail (6) flushed and a single Southern Whiteface were the highlights of a quiet Callum Brae.

Fri 29 Jul Tawny Frogmouth ANBG
Tawny Frogmouth was harried by a raven this morning, it flew in front of me, then landed only about 4 metres opposite section 159.

Painted button-quail Botanic Gardens (near Black Mountain gate)
Two Painted Button-quail foraging in the undergrowth at lunchtime today - not venturing out into the open much, but not overly disturbed by the endless stream of joggers and walkers passing within less than 5m

Wed 27 Jul Rainbow Lorikeet Marist Pearce
While watching a mid-week rugby match 6 Rainbow Lorikeets were observed flying over the school. Oh and the Marist 1st XV beat the visiting Campion School from Essex, 40-18.

Bird flew into a nest high in a willow(?) and settled down as though brooding.
