The following is a digest of Sightings Reported on Birdpedia for the period
Monday, April 26, 2010 to Sunday, May 2, 2010:

Area: SA

Date: Monday, April 26, 2010

Location: Brown's Road, Monarto

Dollarbird (Eurystomus orientalis) (1) Found in small patch of scrub between
the track and the paddocks to the north-east. Agitated Singing Honeyeaters and
Red Wattlebirds alerted me to its presence. One individual - very close,
excellent views for over half and hour. Quietly perched on high branches. Not
in full plumage - but unmistakable (especially pale blue patches on the wings
in flight).

Date: Monday, April 26, 2010

Location: Hyatt Regency building, Adelaide

Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus) (2) A pair of Falcons were at first both
circling around the top of the building, then one landed on a ledge about 5m
down from the top of the building, while the other kept circling up a bit
higher.

I often hear about Peregrines nesting on building ledges in the eastern states
capitals, this is the first time I have seen them in the middle of Adelaide. No
reason why they shouldn't be nesting there, has anybody else seen these birds
in the city, or know of them nesting on any of the building ledges?

Love seeing them using mans urbanisation to there advantage!!

Date: Monday, April 26, 2010

Location: Angle Vale Rd near new Northern Expressway

Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus) (1) Flew across the road at treetop height
with speed and dropped into a 100 strong flock of feeding Feral Pigeons, it
turned out to be an unsuccessful attempt after which it swung up and headed off
in a northerly direction.

Date: Thursday, April 29, 2010

Location: Roxby Downs round trip via Coober Pedy and Oodnadatta

Grey Falcon (Falco hypoleucos) (2) Seen at Algebuckna Waterhole - wheeling
through, over the old bridge, on half-hearted attack run. I was alerted to
approach by fervent alarm calls from other birds, especially HE's. I was about
80-100m away and they didn't stick around - so I didnt get a great look, but
sun was at the right angle to see that they were clearly light grey falcons
with black wing-tips (not kestrels or other species of falcon).

Red-browed Pardalote (Pardalotus rubricatus) (3+) In Acacia canopies in
Oolgelinna Ck, as it crosses Coober Pedy to Oodnadatta road.

Inland Dotterel (Peltohyas australis) (14-16) 4 small flocks bewteen Coober
Pedy, Oodnadatta and William Ck.

Budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus) (500+) large numbers through-out region,
breeding like rabbits!

Fairy Martin (Hirundo ariel) (100+) A few large flocks gathering around a few
creek crossings/culverts with ample water.

Orange Chat (Epthianura aurifrons) (30+) Several flocks/large numbers near the
northern end of the Borefield Track / Oodnadatta Track turn off to Olympic Dam

Diamond Dove (Geopelia cuneata) (16+) sevel pairs or small flocks at several
waterholes/creeks.

Region looking amazing after rains. Some creeks still flowing. Not many
wildflowers....yet! Over 70 species on trip over 2 days. Even saw two dingos
fishing in the flowing Margaret Ck! (yep, thats right - fishing!)
