Lawrie,
Cosmic Flashes ? Gosh, I haven't had one of those since the '70s. Come
to think of it, I probably had too many.
Cheers,
Carl Clifford

These old chestnuts ... again!
A few suggestions from one who has a foot firmly planted in each of the
academic/professional and birder/naturalist camps:
i) for those who claim to love AFO the way it was when it was ABW, but
neither subscribed to or wrote for either, the way forward is clear -
get
writing and open your wallet - if AFO editorial policy is not to your
liking, participate! the single greatest threat to a journal like AFO
is
lack of participation - if you want more naturalist notes published
(because
they are _absolutely_ interesting and worthwhile), write some or support
those who do.
ii) for those who think AFO, Emu et al. are too formal and demanding,
perhaps you need to re-launch "Cosmic Flashes" (see if you can find
that in
Google [?] )
Fire retardant ready - flame away.
