Peter,
I do recall that the Paradise Shelduck reported from Mount Annan Botanic
Gardens were confirmed to be escapees (some 10 years or so ago now from
memory). A local west Sydney land owner reported that he did not have any more
ducks for sale, when calling to ask questions. At least that is how the
story/rumours spread.
Regards,
Tony

Subject: Paradise Shelduck at Mount Annan Botanic Gardens (Sydney)?
Dear Birders,
I visited the Mount Annan Botanic Gardens today and picked up a copy of the
bird list that they kindly provide. I note that the list includes Paradise
Shelduck Tadorna variegata which seems like a very unlikely sighting. Does
anyone know the provenance of this record? It could have been an escapee
possibly or is it an error and appears instead of Australian Shelduck.
Regards
Peter Marsh
