On a brief visit to Lithgow last Monday I counted at least 60 Pink-eared Ducks, more than usual for this location. Other good birds included Blue-billed Duck (3 males), Australian Shoveler, Hardhead and Hoary-headed Grebe. For the location of the sewage ponds ask at the Lithgow information centre. Lake Wallace at Wallerawang currently has at least 10 Great-crested Grebe, including several juveniles. The usual Musk Duck are there too.
