Elegant as Andrew's calculation to substantiate the 4 birdwatchers per plane theory is, it assumes that all the people on planes leaving Heathrow are British, or of nationalities which have the same proportion of birdwatchers amongst their populations as the British. Given that the British are probably exceptionally "birdy", I fear that four is a bit generous. Sorry to spoil the fun, but I suspect Sean may have had a reason for asking!
