I remember a noisy pitta staggering about Martin Place many years ago too. If you go back through the Birding-aus archives there should be something about it. He described it to be rather large and brown. I assumed it may have been a wayward Brown Quail or perhaps even a Japanese Quail which managed to escape from the grasp of a chopping board.
