For an explanation look up "public key cryptography" in wikipedia. I haven't seen anything from Nikon, Canon, etc. This German manufacturer makes something for more specialist purposes. http://www.kappa.de/en/Products/Digital_Camera_Systems/ Might be hard to use for nature photgraphy.
