True about car fatalities, but at least the actual habitats are safe from this - roads aren't really habitat, just a swathe through it that the birds don't understand. There would be equal outrage at off road vehicles crushing nests, etc, but even that is kind of accidental, i.e. it's through carelessness not deliberate pursuing.
