Peter
We can't complain about the rain but when I made the long trip to the Mt St
Joseph pond last evening I was a little peeved.
Still, it was good to see some suburban wildlife and it was entertaining
watching the foraging Purple Swamphens and the Dusky Moorhens and their
young. I had a good view of an Australian Hobby swooping over the pond,
then perching on the railway wires. A Wood Sandpiper also put on a flying
exhibition so, all in all, it was a pleasant evening.
Keep up the reports and I'll try for another visit when conditions are more
suitable for seeing crakes and rails.
Regards
David

Mt St Joseph pond, Altona, Vic
It rained steadily all morning here and at 3pm the water had covered all
the mud. I only stayed 15 minutes but saw no crakes or rails at all.
