After about 5mm of rain yesterday the pond had risen from less than 1.08m to 1.16m buy last night but had already fallen a cm by this morning. Nearly all mud is covered and in previous similar conditions Lewin's Rails were rarely seen. I started getting regular sightings again last time after it dropped to 1.13m so there's some hope for the weekend. Can anyone tell me if this regular emptying and refilling is good or bad for whatever these birds are feeding on in the mud?
