According to that website, there is another fire burning 16000 ha near 
Salt Lake Track in the Little Desert...another top birding site for 
species like purple-gaped honeyeater, mallee fowl and slender-billed 
thornbill.

Bill, some information for you on the Wathe fire situation.

The fire at Lascelles - Wathe area of public land has burnt 4 000 hectares 

including 160 ha of private land.  I understand that much of the Wathe 
Flora and Fauna Reserve has been burnt.
