Hi all,

Playing golf last weekend in Sydney, my friend was telling me that a couple
of weeks prior ravens had been "stealing" practically every ball close to the
green on a particular hole. He mentioned literally dozens of golfers had their
golf ball picked up by a raven, including his and the three golfers he was
playing with.

One of the golfers he was with, seeing what was about to happen got within
metres of one of the birds as it "stole" his ball, to no avail.

The solution by the club (I was told) was to call the local council who
promptly sent a shooter to "remove" the birds in question.

I ask, what are the birds doing? Where are they placing the golf balls? And
lastly is shooting the birds ethical?

I won't mention the club just in case.

  Regards,
  Charles Hunter
