Similar thing happened to a welcome swallow fledgling that I
inadvertently disturbed in my garage - it flew out the door, amazed
at the wonder of life and wide open spaces - and was immediately
gobbled by a passing Pied Currawong!

G'day B'Ausers
Back in the 1960's on a campus between Newcastle and Sydney I
accidentally flushed two Yellow-tailed Thornbill fledglings from
their nest. They were pursued by a Magpie which killed them, ate
their brains, then flew off.
Hope you are not having breakfast
Cheers
