Hi all, I agree with the comments on the need for more scientific research into the effects of playback. However, until a comprehensive, authoritative study tells me it's ok for Australian birds, I'll continue to not use it. Personally it seems a bit selfish for a private birder or photographer to be using playback, as well as thinking of it as cheating. These birds are just minding their own business. Why should we disturb their day with a perceived challenge just for our own gratification? Same goes for trampling habitat to flush birds and the like.
