I hadn’t ruled out Zeiss, just hadn’t got close enough to a purchase point to think about them or others. I know people with old Zeiss who absolutely swear by them.

Just to add another contender, why have you ruled out Zeiss?

I have a pair of quite old Zeiss, which are fantastic.  I have just spent a couple of weeks birding and game viewing in the Kalahari with a South African mate who has a new pair of Zeiss – I naturally tried them and was most impressed,

I’m in about the same position Simon, having decided that my 10x42 BA’s are eligible for retirement – how about a big brass and glass case over the mantelpiece?

I tried out some Swaros vs Leicas just before Xmas and thought the Swaros definitely collected more light. It’s going to be a difficult decision though.

Hi everyone, I know this discussion has been around for a while but has anyone recently purchased / compared the Swarovski 10x42EL with the relatively new Leica Ultravid 10X42BR. I'm looking at getting a new pair in the not too distant future, I currently use an old pair of Leica 10x42 BA's which I've had for about 16years and they have been great, but not sure which way to go this time round...can anyone help!

Cheers

Simon.
