Hi all,
Visited Rottnest Island off Perth on the weekend. Got some great
birding in, as well as some puzzling shots that I'll upload to ABID
when I get the chance to see if others can shed some light. One
Red-capped Plover with aberrant plumage, and a small bird that is
either a quail or a baby Common Pheasant (Slater's Field Guide doesn't
have Common Pheasant in it, very frustrating). There were plenty of
waders on the lakes, although no sign of the Red-Necked Phalarope that
is occasionally seen out there in summer. Had brief glimpses of Rock
Parrots, a great long look at Red-capped Robins, and the local Common
Pheasants. A pair of White-fronted Chats flew down onto the fairway
of the 15th hole on the golf course while I was watching some Banded
Lapwings. A full list follows, 36 species in all.
