Lawrie Conole wrote "I believe these (LHI stick insects) only survive on Ball's Pyramid offshore from LHI (at least until recently). I seem to recall hearing about some being captured for captive breeding and re-release on LHI. Aren't the currawongs going to love that ....." There is a draft multi-species Recovery Plan for Lord Howe Island (which I haven't read). I've been told that there is a long term plan to release insects on the main island but this will be dependant upon the eradication of rats. In regards LHI Currawongs, well ... it may take a bit of the predation pressure off the White Terns.
