I'm very much aware that you weren't trying to offend anyone (and most probably didn't offend anyone).  I guess all I was pointing out (to the list, not you personally) was that without habitat we don't have birds.  As such national parks aren't reserved to protect a single species but to protect biodiversity.  Sitting in the office that essentially drives the acquisition of reserves in western NSW this is something that I'm exposed too constantly.
