I have
followed this thread with interest.
'Shy
and skulking' - well, yes, often. Squawking away with horrible
noises when disturbed, yes. And they are the most horrid diggers
up of gardens, and spreaders of leaves and dirt etc on garden
paths.
BUT -
not brilliant songsters???
Every
year, come Spring here on the Adelaide plains, a blackbird sings his
heart out most beautifully every evening from his perch atop my TV aerial -
totally disregarding anything which is going on in the garden below or on the
street outside (and it happens to be a busy street - it's even a bus
route). This glorious late afternoon/evening song is a
highlight of the season.
