Re: Allan Benson's comments on Sydney region pelagic trips, not having
been on either the Swansea or the Wollongong boats (far to far to travel
early in the morning although I am tempted to do Wollongong one day), so
I've done lots of Sydney trips.

Sometimes we have a tremendous day, sometimes not, as the December trip,
but other pelagics also have dead days. I have had some absolutely superb
Helicat trips with first sighting of the Tahiti Petrel, albatross and
shearwaters within touching distance, etc. etc. One can't rely on birds
being there - I missed all the great winter of 1999 (or was it 2000)
trips, owing to work restrictions, aned have had a couple of very dull
trips since, but on the whole they're are great, and getting out there and
back quickly is a major bonus.

It's like the lottery, actually not as bad as the lottery, just that birds
are not always where you want them when you want them.
