Dear Phil,
Shades of Henry Crun's refusal to buy new leech-boots in the Goon Show!
How on earth would you get a sock onto a leech?
Seriously though, I am interested in the idea; the only anti-leech
technique I know of is to impregnate socks and trousers with salt and/or
insecticide (don't know which one). I dislike leeches.
It is said that if you consume large quantities of home-brewed beer with
live yeast, mossies and sandflies will ignore you - alternately you can
take whichever is the relevant B-vitamin for the same effect.
I don't know how far ahead you have to start the beer/vitamin treatment
to be effective.
If anyone knows if the homebrew theory is correct I would be glad to
know.
