Hi Michael,

The Hawk Moths Gnathothlibus erotus to which I previously referred have a wingspan of about 90 mm (3-4 in.). Your comment that Bogongs are at least twice as big indicate that they have a wingspan of 180 mm (7 in.). A true giant.

regards, Andy

   Hi Paul,
              I beg to differ.
The Bogong  moths from Mt Bogong , upon which the local Aboriginals were said to feast and which reach plague proportions annually around Albury  where I lived for ten years,
are at least twice as big as the Hawk moths with their distinctive wing pattern that were at the stadium last week.
                              Cheers
                                 Michael
