Bob, Regarding owl boxes - the Canegrowers organisation is recommending a nest box (with full instructions) for breeding owls made from 6 planks of timber. It is on their website - www.canegrowers.com.au/Environment/Owls/howto.htm I just tried to bring that page up but there was no respnse so went to http://www.canegrowers.com.au/ then clicked on Environment and then How to Construct an Owl Nesting Box. It was designed by John Young and it works - apparently of something like 28 boxes put up last year in the Ingham district 26 were occupied by the time the breeding season came round, mostly by Barn Owls.
