Hi Alex - (and Tony and anyone else who has been suffering some angst
regarding the unsolicited copy of the NHT newsletter they recently received
in the post) -

Let me explain. The NHT newsletter (issue No.5) was sent to Birds
Australia members (only to those resident in Australia and not to
non-member atlassers) as a one-off. This is because it was originally
intended to be a paid-for loose insert in Wingspan, our colour magazine.
Because of an internal misunderstanding, it did not go out as an insert and
so (although BA does not generally post other organisations' newsletters to
our members) we facilitated the posting out of the NHT newsletter. It was
also felt that that the section in the newsletter on the Atlas and other
bird conservation projects would be of interest to BA members.
I emphasise that, because of our firm policy of never selling or passing on
our mailing list or membership details to other organisations, we organised
the mail-out ourselves and so did not provide any information whatsoever
about BA members to the NHT. If anybody who received the NHT newsletter as
a BA member wishes to get further issues, they will have to get in touch
with the NHT directly to request it.
Cheers,
Hugo
